SHIFT STRUCTURE
Uniformed Officers work 12-hour shifts starting at
6:00am. Uniformed officers work 14 days per month.
The administrative staff works 8.5 hour shifts
starting at 8:00am, Monday through Friday.
FLEET
The police department maintains a fleet of marked
and un-marked vehicles for police use. In 2000, the
department began a transition from white cars to
navy blue. This was a response to the similarity of
other area department patrol vehicles. In 2007 the
department began changing to black and white cars
with a new graphics design. A maximum of two
officers is assigned to each car. They are equipped
with the latest technology in laptop computers,
radar, and video camera/recorders. The fleet is kept
in top running condition by local car care experts.
BIKE PATROL
The department operates two specially equipped
mountain bikes for police patrol use. Officers
selected to the bike patrol must complete a 40-hour
course in bike patrol procedures.
